When planning your links for your web design and web development the text for describing the links should be kept to one line. If a description is so long that it takes two lines, it will appear to your visitors as two links, and this will only serve to confuse them.

If you make that little extra effort to clarify text links it will make your visitors surfing a much more pleasant experience. As technology advances there are newer browsers where you can see the title text (in the form of a tool tip on Windows or balloon help on a Macintosh) when the mouse moves over the link. And with newer auditory browsers it is not displayed visually but the text is read aloud.

A good web design and web development is a site with not too many links. Some sites have links to every other word that can link them to another page. This will only create confusion as the visitor doesn’t know where to look or what to focus on. For a good example of well planned links visit CWD

Try to use reciprocated links in your web design and web development as these are links that encourage visitors come back to your site. Un-reciprocated links send your visitors to other sites but do not send them back. However, you must think about providing your visitors with useful, high quality external links as this will enhance your site.
